*Some applications require the preparation of additional statements or letters. For example, if an applicant has a criminal record, the Contractors State License Board requires a Disclosure Statement regarding each plea/conviction to be submitted with the license application.

Other Costs of Becoming a Licensed Contractor

In addition to whichever CLC course you choose, there are other costs and fees as follows:

To the Contractors State License Board (CSLB):

Application Fee - $250.00 Original , $50.00 Supplemental

License Fee - $150.00 (renewable every two years)

To an Insurance Company:

License Bond - approximately $200.00 for two years depending on the bonding company you choose.

Fingerprinting Fees - approximately $80.00 depending on the fingerprinting company you choose.

Fees for CLC, application, license, insurance and fingerprinting are all tax deductible under Internal Revenue Code Section 162.
